So, here it finally is. I’ve written this first post for this website in my head dozens of times, and even put finger to keyboard a couple of times. I’ve figured out most of what I want this site to look like, and I’ve got a checklist of things I wanted to finish in time for a January 1st launch.
Unfortunately, none of it is actually done yet, and I’ve thrown out everything I already wrote for this post. Instead of worrying about everything, I’m just going to start writing, and see what happens.
Once upon a time, I helped people be entertained. I owned a music and video store, I ran a film festival, I blogged a lot. Every year I watched hundreds of films, and listened to well over a thousand albums. My favorite part of my job was talking to people about these things, steering them in their purchases, and finding out if they liked them and why.
Since I closed my store, I’ve missed that interaction with people, and I’ve talked to many people who have missed that same interaction with me. Since I still devour just as much media as I used to, hopefully this site will be a helpful outlet for me (and others whose writing I’d like to share) and an informative and entertaining place for people to read about film, music, tv, games and print media.
While I do have some goals and philosophies set in my head about what I’d like this site to be, I also have a day job that keeps me busy sometimes, so I am hoping that 2014 will be a soft-launch, and I’ll be working as hard as I can to publish what I can, as well as get a logo, a real site design, some writers, and so on.
In the meantime:
