A Short Film a Day
Only In HelLA
by Rory Uphold
Short Films are extremely important to us, which is why one of our top priorities this year is covering a short film every day. While we’re starting the first thirty days on the site with fairly well known short films, we would like to get as many submissions as possible quickly. If you or someone you know has made a short film, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In 2013 my intake of short films was drastically reduced, which is one of the reasons I’m making it my priority to post about a short film every day this year.
One of the few short films I did see in 2013 is Rory Uphold’s Safety, which is unfortunately not online. It’s a small piece, but it has a lot to say, and it says it in a really smart way. It’s got several moments of what I call “Truth with a capital T”. I’ll be sure to post it up as soon as it is available online.
In the meantime, Rory has been talking about a “web series” that she’s been working on, called Only In HelLA. I don’t usually pay much attention to things as they’re being worked on, but this has stayed on my mind because I loved Safety so much.
Well, today she unveiled the first “episode”, which is really just just a 30 second short, which you can stream here:
It’s a pretty perfect short. Just one moment of Truth.
You can catch new episodes every Tuesday on their website.
